WHO banter
Hello.
I imagine there will be some among you who will tut and mutter “Snowflake” or something, but I am asking nicely if you would please refrain from using the term Mong on here.

I understand the appeal of slagging each other off, puffing out chests and playing I Know More About Football Than You, but words like that are just not necessary, and it’s foul.

I have a daughter with T21 Down’s Syndrome and she is the sweetest thing. And smart. And kind, and empathetic and funny.

Thank you, wankers.

Re: WHO banter
Right on, fucking disgraceful word used by worthless people.

I fear, however, that the ignorant cunts of WHO will not heed your polite request.

I learned the error of my ways many years ago. You're a sad man to be digging up posts from at least five years ago Johnson.

Go on own up.

Re: WHO banter
If that was aimed at me then I apologise.

I certainly didn’t mean it to cause offence, but it was very insensitive of me. Won’t happen again 👍🏼

Re: WHO banter
What about if we use it in a positive way. Like if someone posts sweet and I want to convey how smart, kind and funny they are?

Re: WHO banter
Am I allowed to ‘Mong out’ after over indulging?

Re: WHO banter
apologies, but I struggle to mention Harry Kane without using the word

Re: WHO banter
It's just a word, no one has used it to deliberartely cause you or your daughter offence, so being offended by it, would be your own personal choice.

Re: WHO banter
The bloke (I'm assuming, could be a bird I suppose) has asked nicely, have a bit of respect you bunch of low calibre fucking wankers.

Re: WHO banter
My daughter and I have autism and it would never occur to me to ask WHOers to stop using words or insults such as 'sperg' or 'are you autistic?'

Nobody on this website would take the piss out of or wish ill towards your daughter or anybody else with Down syndrome. Or cerebral palsy ('spazz') or whatever. It's actually dishonest of you to imply that's what we are doing when we use those words. I don't appreciate the attempted guilt trip, frankly.

I think if you are genuinely offended on your daughter's behalf, rather than ask us to change our culture of pisstaking or censor the words we use, perhaps you should consider either gritting your teeth and learning not to let it get to you, or finding a 'milder' cyber pub.

I hope you stay, actually.

I hope we can all start gradually pushing back against the new culture of offence-taking.

Re: WHO banter
No surprise Vexed takes offence from the word...

Nurse Ratched 8:20 Fri Jun 4

Is it the autism that makes you such a fat ugly desperate old spunk bucket, Nurse?

Or was it the long line of fat ugly worthless cunts that spawned the shit DNA that formed you?

Don't insult me by getting offended now.

Yes I see that works quite well.

Re: WHO banter
It's got nothing to do with being offended, but it's not very classy to rip the piss out of disabled people is it? I think the poster is just asking us to try and have a bit of class.

Only WHO would complain about such a polite request yet at the same time they'll jump all over someone who might suggest that one iron is a boring old cunt and his books are shit.

What a weird place.

Re: WHO banter
It is strange how it's become quite the legitimate thing to take offence. Here's a bloke I never knew existed, who has a daughter I never knew about either, and we can't use certain words now as someone will be offended on her or his behalf

As NR says, they weren't knowingly directed at anyone — only someone like Vexed would do that to compensate for his own glaring inadequacies.

Perhaps we could use the rest of this thread to map out all of the other words we can't use for fear of someone taking offence?

Re: WHO banter
I’m with Nurse on this one

I have a niece who has Down’s syndrome and I frankly don’t give a shit if I see people using the word. If I did I’d jog on somewhere else

But then I’m an ignorant cunt

Jaan Kenbrovin 8:41 Fri Jun 4
Re: WHO banter
I’ve never used Mong to mean Down syndrome, I always thought it just meant stupid?

Can I used ninny and nincompoop or have you got other children they would offend?

ChillTheKeel 8:42 Fri Jun 4
Re: WHO banter
Can we stop saying flid too please, as I know someone with short arms.

FWIW I've never correlated the word mong with Downs.

Vexed 8:43 Fri Jun 4

That is because most of you are uneducated peasants I guess.
